Volunteers make a difference!
With your help, the Run for the Rainforest 5K can become one of the most successful, all volunteer, locally-based races in the Northern Virginia area in terms of attendance and funds raised for rainforest preservation. All volunteers will receive the official Run for the Rainforest T-shirt.
RACE DAY VOLUNTEERS
The following are volunteer opportunities, timing and the number of people needed per shift.

Race Set-Up:
15 people Time: 6:00am - 8:30am Location: Marymount University Description: Set-up tables, tent, chairs, trash cans, hang banners and place cones for the race. This activity may require some heavy lifting (40-60 lbs.)
Course Marshalls:
15 people Time: 6:30am - 10:00am
Shifts: 6:30am - 8:30am, 8:30am - 10:00am
Description: Youll spread out over the entire course, help set-up barricades and cones and monitor turns and intersections. You will direct runners so that they stay on course, keeping cars off the course, and keeping the course safe during the duration of the event.
Water Station:
15 people Time: 7:00am - 10:00am
Description: You will fill and hand out cups of water to runners as they run by. After runners go by, you will clean up the station by raking up cups and filling trash bags. Pacers will drop off and pick up supplies before and after the race. Pacers will assist you with station set-up and race-day training.
Finish Line:
10 people Time: 8:30am - 10:00am
Description: You will help keep runners moving through the finish line towards the Timing Chip corral.
Race Clean-up:
15 people Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Description: Break-down tables, tent, chairs, trash cans, etc This activity may require some heavy lifting (40-60 lbs)
