About Us
Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) is an international, not-for-profit organization that partners with indigenous peoples across Amazonia to conserve bio-diversity, traditional culture, and health. It is our strong belief that the people who best know, use and protect the rainforest are the indigenous people who live there. Operations in Brazil, Columbia, and Suriname have helped more than two dozen tribes map, manage, and protect their territories. Through the Shaman's and Apprentice program ACT helps preserve knowledge of natural indigeneous medicine.
In 2008, we launch our first race to reach out to our local communityto think globally while acting locallyto help stop climate change and global warming by preserving the Amazon rainforest. We hope that you will join ACT and the Arlington community in protecting the environment as a supporter of the race.
Please consider supporting ACT's programmatic efforts. ACT has lead the way in saving the Amazon and its indigenous peoples by using an innovative, holistic approach that is set on simultaneously protecting biodiversity, strengthening traditional indigenous cultures, and improving health care in the Amazon Basin of South America.
